Many of us would love to spend Sunday afternoon in this wonderful penthouse located in a coastal building in the city of Nieuwpoort in Belgium, has a 100 square meter terrace turned into a spacious outdoor oasis and created with state-of-the-art materials, such as HI-MACS®.
For this elegant home, the owners launched a challenge to the architects of Atelier Artisjok in order to design a landscaped terrace on the roof that gave off character and personality. Coordinated by a team of landscape artists, engineers and architects, the studio Atelier Artisjok took on the challenge of converting such a vast space into an intimate and cozy oasis.
During the entire transformation process the most advanced techniques were carried out: from the installation of metal structures for the distribution of underlying charges up to automated spray system. In addition, the selection of materials was a very important aspect in the design of the project because the climatic conditions, generally harsh during the winter, that characterize the coastal areas had to be considered.
In search of corrosion and wear resistant materials, the choice fell on HI-MACS® which, with its intrinsic qualities, fit perfectly in combination with the floor board and the polyester used in the large planters. Thanks to the versatility of the material and its availability in different colors, the Ivory White and Black Granite shades have been used in numerous areas: the shower, the jacuzzi, the steps, the windproof screens ... and even in the space for the house pet!
The evergreen plants they add a touch of freshness to the space and arouse a pleasant feeling of well-being: from the hidden lounge-terrace protected from the wind, ideal for long summer nights, to the comforting and warm porch, designed to eat with friends in the shade of automatic parasols and protected from the sea breeze. The splendid roof culminates its impeccable design thanks to a large hot tub, from where you can observe the stars, and a luxurious shower, both installed along a colorful brick wall and with stunning views of the nearest dunes. It is true that most of us do not have so much space on our terraces, but we are taking note of the ideas in case one day ...
